I don’t know what happened to my Yoast plugin but it is acting weird. I deactivated it last night and activated it again, and now it doesn’t work properly. I tried flushing cache and deactivate and activate it again, but nothing works.

In the post editor, Yoast looks like this now https://imgur.com/eKGnzJO

And in the settings, the dashboard button and first time configuration buttons don’t do anything.

  • I did also a rollback due to the same issues with 20.9.

I’m still using the “Classic Editor” plugin. Is this a plugin that others (with the same issues) are also using?

I am also using Classic Editor.

Thanks for the additional info. The conflict doesn’t seem to be with the Classic Editor plugin (or at least, not only with this plugin). On our test site, the Yoast meta box loads fine with the most recent versions of the plugins Yoast SEO 20.9 and Classic Editor 1.6.3. So, the conflict must be with another (probably outdated) plugin or theme. We’ll keep investigating.

It’s not the theme at least because as mentioned, I use the same theme on 3 sites and it works on two of them but not the main site. Likely some plugin conflict that was triggered after the update.

Other users experiencing a similar issue managed to fix it by clearing the browser cache and cookies and refreshing the browser. Can you please check if this also helps resolve the issue on your site? @danniee001, @namreh, @magicfilou

    Thanks!

Nope, did not work. Had to go through the hassle to rollback again to 20.8.

The exact same thing happened to me when the update came out. I came here, and I saw a couple of users who had the same thing. I installed the WP Rollback plugin, which lets you choose the version of the plugin you want to rollback to, I reverted to 20.8, and all is well.

Before rolling back, I tried to clear browser cache, and server cache (including my CDN system), but the error remained. It was back to 20.8, and everything works again. I am a user of the classic editor, the truth is that I did not test if it worked with the (horrible) block editor or not.

By the way, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Yoast team for their work and all the time you dedicate to helping people to position their content better through this plugin. This is just a small problem that they will surely find a solution to, as with previous errors, we simply have to be patient (and rollback to the previous version).

@danniee001 I’m sorry to hear clearing the browser cache didn’t fix the issue for you. Do you have any CDN or any other service that caches JS files? If so, can you please try clearing its cache and check if the problem resolves?

@alias79 Thanks for your nice words. Yeah, several users are experiencing a blank meta box after updating to Yoast SEO 20.9. It’s still unclear the root cause, so we’re still investigating.

Were you able to perform a conflict check using the Health Check and Troubleshooting plugin? It’d be a great help if you could let us know if the problem occurs in troubleshooting mode with all non-Yoast plugins disabled and the Twenty Twenty-Two active.

Tried clearing Cloudflare cache, didn’t help. Had to rollback again.

@monbauza I would have loved to do this tests, the problem is the time to do them. This weekend I will try to take time to probe it, and I will comment here if the conflict comes from an incompatibility with another plugin.

When I have problems I use the Health Check and Troubleshooting plugin, so I just need a little time, and notify my editors (because when I update to version 20.9, they will not be able to use SEO, even if only I am in the mode depuration).

Same thing is happening in my site. I get the same blank in the publishers backend as shown in the screenshot.

This only happend after we updated to the latest version

I haven’t had time to test it :((( But I’m seeing a lot more people getting it after the last version, so I’m assuming it must be related to version 20.9.

Problem still persists here. 20.8 works good but I am unable to update from here on ??

    Hello All,

Thanks for you using the Yoast SEO plugin. We have a new plugin release today – v20.10. If the issue persists after upgrading to this version, please open a new post.

Exact same issue persists. Have to rollback again to 20.8.
