Someone took away my administrative rights on my own site

  • I need help getting my administrative rights back. I own the domain but had help from someone who took away my admin status. I can’t edit anything, no plugins show, etc. Is there anyone who can help me?

  • Do you also have access to the hosting area? Then you can give your account admin rights again by editing the data records in the database accordingly. The procedure is described here: https://wpengine.com/support/add-admin-user-phpmyadmin/ – you should remove the other user immediately afterwards.

    However, if you can only manage the domain but have no access to the hosting, you technically have no chance and would have to contact the person who defaced it.
