Hello. I recently signed up for yahoo webhosting and attempted to activate a wordpressblog. But when I go to the page I get a error. It says can’t connect to mysql and says something about username and password.

I called Yahoo and they won’t help me. When I googled the problem, I saw many sites that went through the same thing (in the cache). But the problem was fixed because their blogs are now up and live.

I’ve tried to login to mysql and keep getting a error 2003. I have been working on this problem for 6 hours now!

    Can someone help me please!!!!

I really don’t know yahoo webhosting but i’m surprised that they would not help you. Does Yahoo WH have a support forum? I would try posting there see if anyone else can help you.

The error you describe seems to me that the mySQL database wasn’t setup or you don’t have the correct username or password.

I would not pay for a hosting company that can not help me with an issue, I recommend you seek out better hosting. Head over to places like https://www.webhostingtalk.com (google for other hosting review sites) and see what is recommended.

Give Freshly Pressed a try (https://freshword.freshlypressed.net/prices/) I don’t use them myself but I’ve heard good things about them. Like anything do your research first. WP should be a simple install from any host that has Fantastico (or similar).

    Good luck

Thank you. I’m on hold with them for the second time tonight and I’m going to tell them that if they don’t help me, I will cancel this!

    This is ridiculous!

And you are right. It has something to do with mysql. Because NOTHING that is dependent on mysql can connect to the database!

I’m having the same problem as well. Please let us know how it turns out. The supposed easy installation and support of WordPress was one of the main reasons I decided to go with Yahoo hosting.

I took a look at the Yahoo WP install process

    prior_transaction_id=281159&action_code=5&highlight_info
    =16784323,6,11&turl=http%3A%2F%2Fhelp.yahoo.com%2Fhelp%2Fus%2
    Fwebhosting%2Fwordpress%2Fwordpress-03.html&answer_id=7778031
    #__highlight )

and there wasn’t any part where it asked you for your mysql info. So this error has to be on Yahoo side of life.

Seems with all the replies they are having issues with this. I’m sure yahoo is fine for some people but I would hate to host my sites with anyone that did not provide a customer forum with updates on issues.

I was given an email address to get help.

    [email protected]

So others who are having the problem can email.

I’m still awaiting an answer from them. *sigh*

Thank you vkaryl. What I’m going through with Yahoo is so foolish!

I’d never trust a company that is good (let’s not debate this) in certain areas and then is jumping into something that is not their main focus… just to make some more bucks.
Furthermore, a giant like Y will treat every client as a “number”; never really caring about your needs.
At my host I know at least two people by their name and today while I was having a small problem I got an answer in 12 minutes.
    just my $0.02
