    I received this WordFence Alert

“A user with username (here was placed my own username) who has administrator access signed in to your WordPress site.”

    User location: Louisville, United States

But I am not in Nashville. Is this a settings in my own user account that needs to be changed or does this mean that someone in Nashville attempted to login to my website?

Can’t find where to change that location anywhere if indeed it is in my account settings.

    Thanks for any help.

Isn’t the free version of Wordfence enough for brute force attacks?

It is – but the hacker may have used a different attack vector – such that maybe the server itself is compromised, or there was another backdoor with a way in.

See more information on cleaning here: https://www.wordfence.com/docs/how-to-clean-a-hacked-wordpress-site-using-wordfence/

Ok I deleted the entire directory and restoring from a clean backup. Not many changes made since. Next I will change username/password.

Whether that’s enough or not I’m not sure but this is not a website I am able to maintain on a daily basis or spend much time on just needed a quick fix for now.

    Thanks a lot

You can set your timezone under Settings->General. In your original comment you mentioned both Nashville and Louisville, which is confusing.
