Some variations aren't being grayed out

I updated to 1.4.8 from 1.3 recently, and now all my attributes are showing up as available in my shop, whereas before only my specified variations were. For example, in my shop I sell art. For one piece I may have the original painting, giclee prints and photo prints available. So one of my attributes is “media” and another is “size.” When the “original painting” option is selected in the “media” dropdown, I want all the different sizes in the “sizes” dropdown to be grayed out except for the one the painting actually is. Also, I don’t offer the same sizes for both types of prints.
This used to work in the older version, but now it just shows all sizes available for all media types.
I hope my description was clear enough! Any help on this would be much appreciated!
