Some suggestion to make this plugin almost perfect

I’m evaluating a plugin to manage the cookie policy on my websites.

I’m evaluating those plugins:

1. GDPR Cookie Consent Plugin by WebToffee
2. GDPR Cookie Compliance by Moove
3. You astonishing plugin GDPR Visitor Consent

Yes, I’m evaluating your plugin together with the two most used and well developed plugins.

Your is really well developed and offers all the features a plugin like this should offer.

It is almost perfect, but, to be perfect at all, it needs, in my honest opinion, some minor tweaks.

Yes, minor tweaks, not big features.

I’ll go in order of importance.

1. Use a technical cookie to save the preferences of the user

Currently the plugin uses the local storage to save the preferences.

I think the use of a technical cookie is better for two main reasons:

1. It is easier to get the value of a cookie from Google Tag Manager: this way I can configure it to only activate some scripts depending on the values read in the cookie that manages preferences about cookies;

2. It is possible to access the value of cookies also from PHP, so,, if I have some custom PHP scripts running on my WordPress website, I can read the cookie preferences and act accordingly.

2. Provide a more clean cookie banner and cookie box

Frankly speaking, the current design of the cookie banner and of the cookie settings box are really ugly.

It is possible to edit them in a child theme, for sure, but the first time I installed the plugin my thoughts were “So, this is a very good plugin, but it is so ugly!”.

After all, it only requires to change some rules in the css (1. Remove the gray border from the modal box; 2. Use the fonts from the template and better use white space around the elements). For sure, If you check the other two plugins I mentioned earlier, you will find some great inspiration!

The sam applies also for the backend: very very developer-styled: I think that using the default WordPress style would be a better bet.

Those are the only two things that will revamp this plugin and make it able to compete with the other two solutions.
