Hi, we want to use the ShortPixel Enable Media Replace plugin for our client’s site but have seen a problem during testing and would like help to work it out. We are using ShortPixel Image Optimiser with WP Offload Media for S3 storage.

The problem is that when we use the Enable Media Replace plugin some image sizes are not replaced when using the “Just replace the file” option. The results vary depending on the dimensions of the original and replacement image. In my tests the three that are causing problems are the original, thumbnail and post-thumbnail.

I’ve run a series of tests to show the problem. In between each test I am waiting for the entire optimisation and offload process to finish. The screenshots are from an S3 browser and if I download and open them I see the same thing so no browser caching is involved.

Something I believe important is that when I first begin the replacement process, if I expand the “Replaced Thumbnails Preview” box I see the images have been replaced but once the Offload process has completed if I refresh the page and check S3 directly I see the original images.

This eats up our ShortPixel and WP Media Offload credits. I’ve posted this in both the ShortPixel and WP Offload Media forums as I am not sure which side the problem sits on. I’ll update both as things advance.

    Hi @dmilli,

Enable Media Replace is not officially compatible with WP Offload Media, therefore I would expect some issues to appear. ??

I can confirm that we are working on this, but we don’t have any ETA yet, though.

If you have any questions, let us know!

    Best,
