• I am one of the early users of Web Story right from when it was in Beta. This is a new content type that is very promising. But very disappointing to see some serious bugs when the author is a big tech giant Google. Can’t they come up with something flawless when this is going to change the web?

    Now there are 2 issues:
    1. When you embed a web story on one of your posts then you are unable to scroll through that web story in mobile. Somehow the screen doesn’t respond. You can’t scroll over the web story. IMPOSSIBLE!

    2. Now recently this happened that the embedded story is not loading at all. There is a blank space at the embed location.

Update: Upgraded from 3 star to 4 star for the quick fix of the issue.

You can see that the embedded web story is not loading. 2-3 days back when I checked it last time, it worked.

    Hi,

I am having the same issue. Did you find a solution?

@spacena This issue has been reported upstream in the AMP repository and is currently being investigated. You can monitor this GitHub issue for any updates as there is a rollback in place. Thank you again for the report.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Looks like the embed block is using the default size of 360x600px. You can change (reduce) the size of the story embed block in the Gutenberg editor to leave enough vertical/horizontal space for users to scroll.

We’re discussing a way to have better default sizing of the block in the GitHub issue mentioned above.

I can’t reproduce this. What device/browser/OS are you using?

Looks like they rolled back and it’s working fine now.

However, I am still looking for an answer to my first point. Looks like this is a feature yet to be made. Web Stories are not made to work on touchscreens yet. I learnt that it is one of the future features. More details here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10DZZrWJdkjcJXD1vL0VG0PqRhsIqaHkacF_ujOdEwJc/view#gid=1673856264

I raised the issue here thinking it’s a bug: https://github.com/google/web-stories-wp/issues/4973

Any idea when It can be launched because that gives very bad User Experience. You are making something for mobile that can’t work on touchscreen devices is an epic failure.

@willchou regarding the first point. I think the better way to go about it would be to make it scrollable no matter where you put your fingers on the screen. This is so practical.

Let’s suppose we give some breathing space to the web stories in the post as a publisher, is it a good UX that people get stuck if they try to scroll while having their fingers on the web story? This is such a bad UX. So instead of going for a workaround about fixing the default width and all, I would recommend making it work no matter whether there is any space surrounding it.

Hi there @spacena! We just want to provide an update that the issue regarding not being able to scroll over an embedded web story on mobile has been fixed upstream and is pending release. We really appreciate your patience!
