• All right, these questions might seem very basic, but since I am a newbie just about to launch my first sites nothing is obvious at this stage. ??

    1. Heres the premise: I will start three sites using the same theme, and to save time I wanna translate all my categories (and so on) to Swedish, do some small customizations, and then make a copy of the translated and customized theme for use with my other sites. Is this possible? If so, is it a simple process?

    2. And also, can I install some basic plugins on my customized theme and make a copy of these to my other sites as well? Or do they need to be installed separately?

    Thanks!

  • Every WP install need its own themes and plugins.

    1. Yes. Just upload your customized theme to each of the three installations.

    2. You have to install plugins to each of your WordPress installation just like the themes being uploaded to each.

    Cheers.

So, mercime, the way it works is that I customize and translate my theme on one domain, and from there I make a copy of that customized theme, which I can then upload to my other domains?

Yes, with the small modification that I wouldn’t do anything “on a domain” aka online. Only on my computer ??

What moshu said. I would have that customized theme on my computer and tweak and upload till I get it right on one install. Others do edit themes online through admin in your domain, but not my cup of tea. Besides, you’re be uploading the same theme to other installs … might as well have the customized on your computer.

Thanks guys! This is a great place!
Then I only got one but very crucial question:
What′s the easiest way to edit and translate a theme off line?
Is there any software you can point me to?

I′ve been googling the subject, but it is a complete jungle out there!

There seem to be people who use a design Firefox plugin. I just use Wordpath and trial-and-error.

You′re not referring to an off line blogging tool are you?
I ca′t find a firefox plugin that lets me customize my theme off line!
Do you remember what it was called?
