    Still using JetPack 3.2.1

Problem: Some Facebook Posts are not displaying Image/Graphic from WordPress Post.

We use JetPack Publicize to publish posts to our Facebook Page. It has been working flawlessly for many months now.

Now, when I go to our Facebook Page,
    https://www.facebook.com/TheLakeIsCalling ,
some of our posts have a gray box in place of the image.

On our Dec 25th post, “Holidays at the Lake”, the Image is not visible… just a Gray Box where the image should be. The originating WordPress post is https://lelacappelle.com/holidays-at-the-lake/

I scrolled through some of our older posts on Facebook and it is happening to our October 19th post too: “Fall Out of the City”:
    Originating WordPress Post: https://lelacappelle.com/fall-city/

Both of these posts use a Featured Image and the same image embedded, but so do many of our other posts that are still working fine on Facebook.

But here’s the thing: It ONLY happens when I’m logged into that Facebook Page. If I’m NOT logged into Facebook, I see the entire post on Facebook, including the Graphic Image.

    I disconnected Facebook from WordPress,
then disconnected WordPress from within Facebook/Apps,
    cleared browser & wordfence caches,
    checked from Facebook Page,
still the image does not show up,
then reconnected JetPack to Facebook Page,
    still no image.

    Thoughts?

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

I had a look at your Facebook Page, and all posts seem to include an image:

    https://i.wpne.ws/ZBhF

I also checked your site, and you seem to be using the WordPress SEO plugin to manage Open Graph Meta Tags on your site. The tags are configured properly, and include all the information Facebook needs to build a post preview. Everything should work properly.

If you still experience issues on your end, I’d suggest using Facebook’s Debugger to find out more about what Facebook sees when browsing your posts and gathering info to build post previews:

    Hi Jeremy,

With everything on your plate, don’t spend too much time on this. Just wanted to follow up with results in case anything jumps out at you.

In the big scheme of things, as long as “other” users can see the Facebook Post Images, it’s not that much of an issue.

    ***************************************************************

So it appears that “other” users can see the image just fine. It’s only when I’m logged onto Facebook that some of my own posts aren’t displaying the images properly.

For whatever reason, the “Holiday” post image is not seen on my end, but now the “Fall/City” post image is visible within Facebook. I’m not sure that anything really changed on my end.

I ran the Facebook Debugger Tool (while logged onto Facebook) on those two posts.

The Holiday Post shows a preview of the image at the bottom section under “When shared, this is what will be included”. However, in the “Based on the raw tags, we constructed the following Open Graph properties” section, under “og:image”, a gray box is displayed (I can click on the gray box an it opens the image).

The Fall/City (and other working) Posts show both preview in both sections.

I see a different issue when looking at the holiday post in Facebook’s debugger:
    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=http%3A%2F%2Flelacappelle.com%2Fholidays-at-the-lake%2F
    https://i.wpne.ws/ZCpf

    The image is big enough:
    https://lelacappelle.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/HappyHolidays.jpg

It is very slow to load, though: it took me more than a minute to download it:
    https://i.wpne.ws/ZCaX

That’s most likely why Facebook Debugger doesn’t want to use that image, and maybe why you see a grey box instead of the image itself.

    I hope this helps.
