Some Post Images are Linked

  • Hi,

    I just noticed that the images in our newer posts are linking to the wp-content/upload folder, where the image resides. However, my confusion is that WP by default didn’t link to the post images but would only display the title of the image when hovering over it. Now, with any change from us, the newer post images are linked to their source url.

    Did something change with 9.0/9.1 to cause the default to include such linked urls or is there some other reason that I am missing, as to how this change could have taken affect? We did recently change our permailink structure & redirected the old urls, but I can’t see how this would be related.

  • Check what is selected for Image Url when inserting images.

    Hi esmi,

    Well, when adding an image to a post, a url to the link can be manually added or the option “none”, “current link” & “link to image” can be selected.

    The post images w/ the link to the image url do in fact show the image url in the image editor & the images w/o the link, do not show the url in the image in the editor. I am wondering why our newer posts suddenly, automatically started including links to the image? We did not add the links to the images manually, the links to post images suddenly seemed to become the default.

    This is very difficult to explain. I hope I made sense. Thanks

    Someone added a linked image previously. WP retains the last setting used.

    Well, I have some news of which you may be interested…

    WP retains the last setting used.

    This doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. Also, my wife noticed that other WP sites that she frequents also now have linked images along with a corresponding favicon. She hadn’t noticed such links & favicons in the past so we are guessing that this may be a new default setting with 2.9.
