• I’ve seen the Pro theme before and rather liked it then for its clean structure & simplicity. So initially it was a pleasant surprise to see a free version in rep. All the more disappoinment and shame that the developers were so petty as to [intentionally] make the free version look ugly with Times New Roman in headings, thus destroying the theme’s charm. Not even some simple sans-serif fallback, such as Open Sans etc., for crying out loud.

Sure, this is an easily fixable issue, if one wishes to dive into child themes. However, the intention (since the same can be seen on the dev’s site) behind this is as ugly as Times New Roman itself.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: trying to upsale by mutilating your own work, so that people could “see” how pretty your Pro version looks in comparison, won’t bring you the result you’re expecting.

    Greetings,
Font styling can be subjective and complex, but the good thing is that you do not need a child theme for changing to a different font; a font plugin can be used with a LOT more flexibility and options and would work across any theme you use.

I used the Times New Roman to give the theme a “writers” serif based font, but again, this can easily be changed with a pluign. If a font is already existing in a MAC or PC, using some minor CSS in the customizer’s Additional CSS tab can also be used.

You mentioned Headings….so I checked both the Lite and Pro version to see what might be happening, or rather not happening. The headings should be using a Google font called “Cinzel” but falls back to Times New Roman when that font is not available. Turns out the Google font was not loading on both versions. I could see it because I have the font installed in my computer, but no one else would be able to see it….hence why you see Times New Roman.

This was my mistake and should say thanks for your review because you discovered a bug in the font Cinzel not loading. This was apparently missed when the Theme Review Team reviewed this theme as well.

Anyway, I am going to upload a new version update that fixes this, so watch for version 1.0.6. Try the theme again and see if it’s better. If trying it again and you like the fix, feel free to update the rating/review.

I can always add more enhancements to this theme based on feedback because when someone finds something wrong or has suggestions, I’m always open to whatever makes the theme even better.
