    Hello,

Using AMP with Neve theme. On the AMP version of a post some pictures do not show, others do. Also a video does not show.
Any suggestions how to get this corrected?

    Thank you.

@belsit Many thanks for the update.

One thing I have noticed is a video on my page does not show on the AMP page.

If you’re using the Vimeo or YouTube default WordPress editor blocks they should appear in AMP as they do normally in your canonical URLs. For that reason I suspect it may be a third party plugin video insert or a non standard implementation.

If you’d like to open a support topic for this we’d be happy to investigate this particular issue.

I don’t use any 3rd party for this, just uploaded the video and inserted a media block in the post.

When I opened this thread (3 weeks, 3 days ago), I already mentioned that the video was not showing. It’s the same amp page (on another page similar issue, the video there also does not show on the amp page).

Why do you now want me to open a new support topic, as I mentioned it already here before?

    (@jamesosborne)

You’re correct! In that case no need to open a support topic, let me take a look and report back to you here once I can determine more on this. I’ll use the video on your homepage to analyze what could be occurring.

@belsit Are you using a Media Element or other plugin/service feature to add your video?

If so have you tried using the default video block?

I tried both, as a Shortcode and the Media-Video block. Currently, I have them both on the page (“The page I need help with”), both do not show on the amp page. Please check, thank you

Thanks for the update. I’ve checked the Mediaelement plugin and unfortunately it’s not AMP compatible. You can check the validation errors output when using the AMP plugins validation tool.

If you do wish to use the shortcode version of the Mediaelement.js plugin you can try the below, which is a snippet as suggested on the plugins instructions (with your own video):
    [video src="https://shihtzufanz.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Shih-Tzu-Reverse-Sneezing.mp4" width="640" height="360"]

You’ll see that using that shortcode can result in the AMP plugin sanitizing that as a video, which works in AMP URLs. Let me know how you get on with the above.

Thank you, James. How would I enter that code on the post page? Which WP Block should I select/insert and paste that code, or do I need to go to the code editor and paste the code there?

    James Osborne

    (@jamesosborne)

@belsit You can enter that as a shortcode. Let me know how you get on.

    Thank you.
Pasted the code, on the amp page it is not showing. Please check

Thanks for the update. From checking your homepage I don’t see that video embed code. Can you create a new page or post for testing purposes and share the URL that contains the above snippet? After doing so let me know and I’ll take a look.

Please see the “The page I need help with” section in this thread for the URL

    (@jamesosborne)

Thanks for the update. I can indeed see the video on that URL. Looking at your own source code and comparing it to my own I can see your have some MediaElement.js container elements outside the video tag. For that reason you’ll need to reach out to the plugin and ask about AMP support. Alternatively have you tried using the default video block, without Mediaelement.js?

    Thread Starter belsit

    (@belsit)

    James, thank you.

I don’t use any plugin for video, and I do not know where this “MediaElement.js container elements outside the video tag” is coming from, nor what it means/does.

Please find an overview of my plugins:

As you suggested, I selected a Shortcode block in the wordpress editor and pasted the video code in there. Here’s a screenshot:

    Hi @belsit,

Thanks for the update. I can’t be sure why the shortcode is working on my own site and not yours however I only had the MediaElement.js plugin active and the video is displaying as a regular video on my site, output in the same way as it does in a standard video block (without MediaElement.js).

As we can only assist with AMP plugin related queries and there are validation errors output using the MediaElement.js plugin have you tried a normal WordPress video block, with the MediaElement.js plugin suppressed on AMP URLs (AMP > Settings > Plugin Suppression)?

    Thread Starter belsit

    (@belsit)

“have you tried a normal WordPress video block” –> I had that first selected, and then you also mentioned Mediaelement.js

“I only had the MediaElement.js plugin active” –> What plugin is this?
