Some PDFs redirecting to restricted when logged in

I added PDF to the htaccess file to not allow direct access or hotlinking. Now, on my members-only site, some links to PDFs are redirecting to the Member-only content page and some are not being redirected for LOGGED IN users. I am using the most current UM plugin. I tried checking the box for media and on the specific PDF items and tried both everyone and logged in member only options, and neither option changed anything. Why would some PDFs be able to be opened by logged in users and other not? I’m stumped.
