• I have iThemes monitoring my site and it not a notification that “systemwpadmin” logged in as an administrator. I checked the users table and not user exists. I took a look at the meta table and found a reference to user_id 14 which does not exist.

how can this be possible? how do I stop it from happening?

  • Hey there ebharding,

    Hope you’re well! ??

Does it happen consistently or just one-time? I suggest you scan your site using your preferred scanner and see if there are dangerous plugin installed in your site.

    Best Regards,

Hackers / bots will try all kinds of random usernames and passwords to get into your site…it happens all the time.

If they are trying to log in with a username that doesn’t exist, then nothing harmful should happen. Make sure you have user registration turned off though.

hackers “trying to” log in is something I deal with all the time. In this case (it is a one time thing) they “successfully” logged in with an id that does not exist, or no longer exists.

I discovered this after the fact, when I got an email alert of an admin login.
