  • I like the second plugin, but not sure on a situation where search and replace would be used – are we talking when editing a post within the admin panel or does it actually edit posts that already exist on ap age and feed those changes back to WP?

I’m really excited about giving the search and replace plugin a try. I’m so tired of the time it takes to log into my site’s database admin…long login waits and multiple page loadings….so this is cool if it can be done right from WordPress. I’ll let you know.

Jinsan, according to the specs, this will do across the database search and replaces. So let’s say you change your website from fredsite to johnsite, it will allow you to completely go through every one of your posts and replace the names. When converting a site from HTML, MT, or any other format, there are a lot of repitious search and replace functions to fix things.

It isn’t important if you have 20 or 100 posts, but if you have hundreds and hundreds….

Sounds quite nifty – and I do fit into the hundreds of posts area which is really horrible

The Search and Replace works by editing existing posts by doing an SQL update query.

As Lorelle says it’s damn useful when converting your site. Which is why I created it. I was looking at updating nearly 200 posts with the same wrong link in them.

BTW is there a “common” place to submit plugins to?

og god now that you mentioned link – just the thought alone sends shivers down my spine, knowing that I have to change every path in 200 or so posts several times per post….thanks for reminding me, and I’ll be certain to add this plugin to my list of to-do’s. Cheers

You can submit your plugin to the repository at wp-plugins.org and also add it to the codex https://codex.www.remarpro.com
