    Hi,

    I just realized something.

I have some .png with a transparent background. Of course I don’t want to convert them to a .jpg. Then I lose the transparency.

My idea: With a switch I want to make images unselectable for the process already during upload.

Another solution would be a kind of restore. A single image can be restored afterwards.
    [ ] Only compress
    [ ] Size adjustment only
    [ ] Do not convert

    Regards,
    Medienhusky

    Hello Medienusky!

Thank you for using our plugin. I totally understand the problem you are facing when uploading transparent PNG images. The first solution that you are suggesting is an interesting one.

We are also looking into making an auto detect feature that you can turn on. So the idea is that it will detect if the image is transparent, if it is then it will not convert it. What do you think about that?

The second idea you had is also interesting although it would defeat the vision with our plugin to save space.

But thank you so much for taking your time and writing to us. ??

    Hello,

I see the second version more as a “restore”. By default everything should stay as the vision of the plugin intended.
It should not be included in the upload process. Only in the media library, if you want to exclude a single image from it.

There are pictures where the effects of the optimization are visible in places where you like to avoid it. Then one could “restore” such an image.

The intelligent detection of transparent png is great if it works reliably.
    Great idea!

+1 for autodetecting and excluding transparent PNGs from the conversion to JPG. I won’t use the conversion feature until that’s possible.

Thank you for clarifying on what you mean @medienhusky. My point was that a restore feature to work we need to save the original image. The core feature of the plugin is to remove the original image in order to save space. Please let me know if I’m misunderstanding you! ??

Hey @millionleaves! That’s something we are looking into in this very moment. It’s on the top of our list of coming features together with support for GD. Thank you for using the plugin and giving us feedback. ??

@hemenderki, in fact, there is a misunderstanding
If you can automatically exclude a png with existing transparency from the conversion when uploading, a restore function is not necessary.
    pure compression is then sufficient
