Some feedback concerning this version
-
Hi ghazele,
very nice work and an idea we were looking for since longer time. This plugin would give us a good realization possibility for our photo competition. People could upload three pictures very easily, leave their names and adresses etc. I didn’t found a suitable plugin for this purposes so far.
Therefore I took a closer look on the features you are offering.Knowing that your plugin is extremely new, I would recommend to improve some parts (which are currently the reason for me to not use it in the productive environment):
– The plugin is limited on one table only. To collect data in a second table (for a different purpose) it is necessary to set up a second wordpress system.
– Each column of the table you are creating is limited to a varchar(255). Entering more text in a text area field will be truncated without comment.
– The varchar size (especially for text areas) should be definable.
– All in all the plugin would be more useful if you can define the number and the type of the columns first, and create the table afterwards.
– If you have several columns in your table and much text in a text area field, this column is very tall in the backend and the table is not readable in anymore. You should truncate the overview of such fields to maybe 30 chars and append an “…” to it.
– Storage of attachments: I would recommend to ask the user to define a subfolder for each of your tables in the uploads folder of wordpress. (Example: With this you can store all the uploads in one specified directory and it is not mixed up with other uploaded content. For a photo competition you would have all pictures in a dedicated folder and download it for review completely)
– In the current version it is possible to be spammed from robots etc. It is necessary to integrate a capture code together with the submit button.
– Security: Have you checked your input fields concerning SQL injection? I had ugly problems with that in the past, thats why I am asking. So far, a very interesting plugin. I have set it under “observation” to see the progress in the next time and will definitly retest it when there are next versions.
I think you are on a good way.
I wish you good luck, many users and all the best for your plugin!Best Regards
Ralf
