    Hi,

I just wanted to double-check something. I was looking at my browser inspector and see that GA4 cookies are still there after I had saved my real cookie banner set to disabled GA4. However looking at my Google analytics console everything is working as expected because visits are not registered when not enabled. Is this the expected behaviour?
(cookies are not always physically deleted but has no effect after “unchecked” and saved)

    Thanks!

    Hi @aggk,

Thank you for your request. I assume you are using Google Analytics 4 service template from PRO version of Real Cookie Banner.

According to www.remarpro.com community rules, we are not allowed to provide support for PRO version here in www.remarpro.com forum. Therefore, I must ask you to open a support ticket at devowl.io/support, where we will be happy to help you in a timely manner!

    Hi,

This is for a new client where I have manually created a service with Code “executed on opt-in” -script …and I’m going to recommend the pro version.

From what I understand it’s working as expected I was just wondering if cookies would be removed or if it’s normal that they remain in the browser but has no effect anymore?

    Thanks!

    Hi @aggk,

Thank you for your feedback. In that case, we can also help you here in the forum.

In general, only so-called first-party cookies can be deleted if you withdraw your consent to Google Analytics 4 via the legal links at a later date. Thrid party cookies cannot be deleted due to security mechanisms of modern browsers. We have explained the difference between these cookie types in detail at https://devowl.io/2021/first-party-cookies-third-party-cookies-definition/.

If you want first-party cookies to be deleted when you withdraw your consent, please make sure that all cookies are listed in the “Technical cookie information” section of the service you created manually and that the option “Delete all first-party cookies after opt-out. First-party cookies are only cookies that are set by or for this domain” is enabled in the section “Technical handling”.

In the PRO version, you find a service templates for Google Analytics 4, that is configured accordingly.

    Best regards,

    Jan
