• We are not a commercial site, but a club. For various reason, members want to segregate public and member areas of the site. This was elegantly achieved using wp-members.
An unexpected bonus was the ability to add custom fields to a member’s profile.

One small glitch – the posts link (in a widget showing the most recent five) would have taken non-members straight to the posts that we wish to hide. I simply added an intervening page, marked as “blocked.” This could well have been due to my lack of knowledge of WordPress at the time. But it works fine. Non members (or members not yet logged on) get the standard message. Once authorized, they click through to the news page.
