• I am looking for a way to display lists in different places on a website. It is about scientific publications, which should be displayed on a general publication subpage, as well as on the author pages. And in such a way that you only have to make a new entry in one place and the lists update automatically everywhere on the page.
It is always just the title of the publication (partly with link), so no long articles with single view.
Does anyone know a solution for this? A plugin?

Alternatively, I was thinking of creating the publications as posts, but somehow disabling the single view link. Is that possible?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi @awesomeari

It seems that a widget is the best solution for what you want. A widget is basically a content component that can have different features and be placed across different pages within your site.

Here is a clear guide on wpbeginner for how to add one. Notice that where you want to place the widget depends on the theme you’re using.

I hope this works. Good luck

    Hi @fcoveram !
    Thanks for the tip!
I understand that I can display the widgets in different places on the site. But I would then have to update the different widgets individually, right?
Once on the publications page and then on the individual author’s page.
Or maybe I didn’t understand it correctly. But I would like the lists to always update automatically in both places.

No need to update the widget in all places you put it. That is the main idea of a widget, a component that can be placed on different pages but with a centralized source.

One edition of the widget, and will update all pages.

Yes, I understand that. But on the author’s page should be listed only the publications of the author. On the publications page should be listed ALL publications of all authors. So I can’t use just the same widget, right?
