After I’d upgraded the All-in-One Event Calendar plugin to version 2.5.18, I got the error:
“CSS compilation failed because you don’t have enough free memory (a minimum of 24M is needed). Your calendar will not render or function properly without CSS.”
and the event calendar information on my website did not display correctly.

After trying various things, the solution was to go:
Dashboard > Events > Theme Options and click “Save Options”.

I hope this helps other people – it’s taken me several hours to arrive at this simple solution. I have reported it to Time.ly who say this solution is the accepted one, and they intend to rectify the underlying problem in a future version of the plugin.

  • Thanks for the post @snozboz.

This is the correct fix for the issue.

In your case, it was triggered by low free memory, and shouldn’t affect others users.

I’m still getting the error even after I have: Dashboard > Events > Theme Options and click “Save Options”.

    my memory overview:

    PHP Version : 5.4.45 / 64Bit OS
    Memory limit : 256 MB
    Memory usage : 70.26 MB

    Any other fix?

    Hello @stevenybarra,

What version of the Calendar are you running, and on what platform? Have you tried upgrading to the latest version?

    what platform?

I’m assuming you mean wordpress 4.73 and All-in-One Event Calendar by Time.ly: 2.5.18

    I’m hosted on godaddy.

    I appreciate the help
