• Hi, Im totally a new to all these…. but have been trying…

Ive recently updated my site to wp v3.5.
After going through some steps, i found that by site is no longer able to access, it says
    Error establishing a database connection.
I found that in Softaculous, cpanel, that my Data base and user has been changed from _wrdp1 to _wp968. My installation is now _wp968.
I tried changing back editing the database name, user and password, but it i am unable to and got a msg trying to access my site.
The following errors were found :
The URL and DIRECTORY name do not match.
Trying to access wp-admin login it says
    Error establishing a database connection.
    Things to note:
accessing to phpmyadmin shows i have 2 database but _wrdp1 has files in it, but _wp968 has no files.
Ive downloaded the wp-config.php file and the user name shows _wrdp1 but installation info shows _wp968.

How then do i change the database and user name so that i can access my site and wp-admin page again?

    THanks all for your help

  • Hi,

Sir I am a member of Softaculous team.
I would like to know that did you upgrade your WordPress installation manually ? Or from Softaculous ?

I found that in Softaculous, cpanel, that my Data base and user has been changed from _wrdp1 to _wp968. My installation is now _wp968.

This is highly impossible that softaculous will change the database name. I guess you have imported it into Softaculous from another installer. Even then Softaculous doesnt change the database name.

In order to help you we need to know the EXACT actions / steps you have performed.

And if you are getting the error “The URL and DIRECTORY name do not match.” than just add the trailing slash to URL and DIRECTORY.
    It should solve your problem.

You can open a support ticket at [email protected] if you still face the problem.
