Social sharing text appears in excerpt

Can you send me the screenshot? Also, try disabling the plugin.

@the-autism-dad – This could be due to a plugin or something in your theme … I’m leaning towards how your theme handles excerpts and/or your use of a “minify” plugin as top candidates.

I am working from the premise you are letting the excerpts auto-generate, do you see the same problem if you temporarily switch to a default WordPress Twenty series theme? Also, if you manually create the excerpt for the post does all of the “extra” text appear then, too?

Generally speaking, “minify” plugins can cause issues with NextGEN Gallery but at a quick glance around your site I am not seeing anything out of place (except the excerpts).

I think it’s just the way the excerpts are generated. It only happens when a gallery is embedded and I’ve killed all plugins except the basic and it doesn’t fix it. I couldn’t get excerpts to display on the default wordpress themes but I did try graphene and it did the same thing.

The weird thing is that the extra text doesn’t appear on the excerpt when it’s shared to social media.

For now I just removed excerpts… Thank you

@the-autism-dad – Thanks for the update … I still suspect this is in how the excerpt is being generated but not using them is a good work-around as well. You might also consider writing the excerpt yourself for better effect.

No problem. I actually do most of my writing from the WordPress app and include a custom excerpt. I’m not sure if I’ve added the gallery via the browser, saved it as a draft and added the excerpt from the app before publishing it.

That might be a workaround….. Either way, the text is not appearing on the excerpts when they appear on Facebook for example. Just on the site… I’m going to edit a post from the app, add an excerpt and update the post to see if that fixes it.

I just did what I said in the above post and it does work around the issue. It’s a bit more work but worth it..
