Social sharing icons on front-page images using Cubic, Jetpack, Publicize

I’m trying to get social sharing icons on FRONT-PAGE IMAGES (posts) utilizing Jetpack’s Publicize sharing feature. I want to take the text off the images and ON HOVER ADD the social buttons for easy sharing of the post (image).

I already got rid of the date text and post title using css display:none on a custom css sheet.
