The Simple Share plugin doesn’t handle anything to display a specific image except when sharing to Pinterest. When sharing to Pinterest it will share the featured image if set, else it uses the first attached image, else the first image actually found in the post content.

For other services you should set Open Graph tags to indicate which images should be included. The Genesis Simple Share plugin doesn’t handle OG tags because there are so many other plugins already doing that and it makes it difficult to check and see if OG tags are already being set by another plugin. Duplicate tags can cause as many problems as no tags.

I would recommend using a plugin that handles OG tags for you. WP SEO and Jetpack are popular plugins that handle OG tags. You may have one or both of those installed.

There are also many stand alone plugins for handling OG tags.

Finally, as I noted above, if you are using multiple plugins that are outputting OG tags (like WP SEO and Jetpack) it can cause problems. Check to make sure you do not have duplicate tags. You can check a post on Facebook debug tools to get information about how your site is being seen in Facebook and other similar social sites

If it says you have duplicate tags you should find which plugins are causing duplicates and turn off OG tags in all but one.
