Automattic is getting more and more greedy. Before the plugin Jetpack Social, this plugin had no sharing limit.

First they try to get users, and then they set limits. Offering free services that later become paid should not be allowed in the WordPress plugin directory.

What’s the next step? Make Tiled Gallery paid and I have to redo over 300 posts?

    Hi @alicematos71

Jetpack’s social auto-sharing feature, formerly known as Publicize, has been free since it was first released 10 years ago. During that time, it rarely received any significant updates, and the features that have been added were only available with a paid plan.

With over 1 million posts shared per day, we’re excited to start giving our sharing feature the time it deserves. We now have a dedicated team working full-time to take auto-sharing to the next level, along with several other planned features, collectively known as Jetpack Social.

If you’re a casual user, you can continue to make up to 30 social shares per month for free, but if you share more than 30 times per month, you can upgrade to the new Basic plan.

You can check our FAQ page for more information, but if you still have questions, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to help!

@alicematos71 I agree with you so much on this one. I didn’t even see anything telling us the limit had been applied until it told me I’d almost reached the limit.

Perhaps before they start charging for these previously included features, they should first ensure that they work. Mine are forever breaking and having to be reset.

The fact that the Basic Plan is $120.00 usd /yr makes it unaffordable for many (most?) users. It should be priced around $20.00 /yr range, especially since us long time user have expected this to be free, included with the plugin (IT is one of the major reasons for using Jetpack)

$120 /yr is more than I pay for hosting. Time to look for alternative sharing options for a bunch of people, I’m sure.

We understand this change was an unwelcome surprise, and we are really grateful you took the time to let us know which elements of the new plan you find frustrating.

We are using the feedback we receive in this process to inform future iterations of the plan, and I can assure you yours will be included. Please let us know if you’d like us to consider anything else as we continue to expand our Jetpack Social offerings.

@dianewordsworth Note that we sent out emails informing users about the change to sharing limits. Feel free to contact us via this contact form from your account so that we can check for any issues that may have prevented the email from getting to you.

    Thanks, Daniel @ihenetudan

I’ve completed the contact form as requested. ??</img>?
