• Hi, I was looking into buddypress for wordpress mu but before I delve into the world of MU I wanted to check with the community whether such plugin exists for regular wordpress api. I run a website that I would like to have social networking capabilities right on the site..sort of like a myspace or facebook. Problem is wordpress MU doesn’t vibe for me as I don’t have but one blog I want to use these features on.

Are there any plugins that could potentially turn regular wordpress api into a social network site like the sites listed above? Or perhaps one that gives users the opportunity to have a profile page of sorts where they can add friends and interact amongst each other? Any help would be appreciated.

  • While on the topic of Social Networking plugins, I visited my site today and was surprised to note that none of the pages were showing.
Checked all the pages in my dashboard, but the content seemed to be intact(thank god)–but somehow nothing except the side bar was showing up on the site.
Suddenly I stumbled upon a ‘strange’ plugin that I didn’t recognise.
    I couldn’t recall installing this.
I deactivated it, and everything was back to normal–Phew!

The plugin that mysteriously got itself installed and activated onto my Classipress site is called ‘uFave.us Social Bookmarking Widget’.
I don’t know how it got itself installed.
Although my pages are working fine after I deactivated it, there are some minor screw ups that have happened in a few places.
Just thought I’ll bring up the topic to see if anyone has had any similar experience.
    Cheers!

I like how Malik comes out of nowhere to hijack the thread, lol.

Soze, I’m looking for exactly the same thing. WordPress MU is proving painful to get going, and I’m not too excited about having to do major alterations to existing WP themes to get them to work with BuddyPress.

I just wish BuddyPress and MU were as easy to get along with as WP. I hope someone has an answer for ya.
