• I uploaded a profile image of myself to my server. I didn’t even insert it into a post. Yet somehow the image became the featured image of a post. So I removed the image from my server. Cleared all my browser caches.

Yet now, when I post links to my posts on Facebook in particular, but also Twitter, they display this image. I tried to scrape my FB account. But that didn’t help.

The correct behavior would be to display a preview of an image in the post. Instead it displays this profile image. I don’t know how to fix this. I don’t know if the image is still somehow on my server or being served to the platforms from my server. I don’t know if the platforms themselves have cached the image and are generating from their server. If you have any ideas on what’s going on and how to fix it, pls let me know.

    Here’s an example:

Not if you have an og:image meta tag specifying the exact image that should be used.

By the way, is this with respect to your homepage or some inner page?

For your homepage, I see a different title, description and image on both Facebook and Twitter. The image I see (shown below) is the exact image specified with the og:image meta tag on the homepage.

I figured out part of the issue: when I set up the plugin somehow (and I don’t remember doing this) there were default images configured for both Twitter and Facebook. Those settings used that profile image I mentioned above. So I deleted that setting and left no default image for both platforms. I saved the new settings, cleared my browser cache and refreshed the plugin page and home page.

When I tried to publish a link to a post in Facebook everything was back to normal. No more default image in the preview. But when I tried the same thing with Twitter it still served the default profile image. I even logged out of Twitter and logged back in. I tried posting the link both from my server and directly on Twitter’s server. I also tried posting a link to Twitter of old posts to see if that might change the preview. Then it posted no preview image at all.

So would you have any idea why Facebook has reverted to normal behavior and Twitter hasn’t? I did go through the FB debug/scrape to ensure I eliminated anything that might be in its crawl of my site.

I’ve double checked that the Twitter default image in the AIO settings is blank. And it is. I’ve also configured both platforms so that the preview should be the first image in content. But Twitter is still serving the old default image for the most recent post; and no preview for old ones. Is there some other Twitter setting that could be causing this?

Here is what the tweet displays: https://twitter.com/richards1052/status/1621260203391086592 You can see that the preview is my profile image when it should be the image in the post.
