Social Media Icons in Twenty Twelve Header

I am struggling to find a plug in that will allow me to place social media icons in the Theme: 2012 header. I have tried the floating social media plugin but didn’t like the icons or the floating effect. I also tried social media widget but I couldn’t find a configuration screen so figured it was clashing with something else. And sociable won’t let me place the icons in the header. I am really new to all this and realise that a bit of coding may be required but can anyone point me in the right direction. Thank you.
