    Hi,

So I have been using Period for a while now and it has been pretty great so far. The last I checked I was easily able to add my social media links from my WordPress, however, now when I try to add my social media links they just don’t appear, none of them.

I tried clearing cache and everything still doesn’t appear on the top right corner of my blog. In the end, I had to contact my developer to check this issue, he emailed me back with a screenshot showing it’s “Unpreviewable” in the javascript I guess, which I have attached below for your reference.

He also wrote that it’s because I’m using the free version and I need to buy the “Period Pro” to be able to add them, just wanted to know if that is true, and if not, how do I fix it? Looking forward to hearing from you soon..

P.S. – Refer to the attachment for your reference.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thanks for getting in touch about this.

The HTML for the social media icons isn’t being output at all, which is unusual. Can you check in the Customizer and make sure that the URLs for your social icons are still saved there?

No need to upgrade to Pro – it’s not related to this issue.

Hey Ben, first of all thanks for the prompt response, and No, I removed the social media links as there’s no point in having them on when they’re not showing up. Also when I tried to attach the screenshot which my developer shared with me, the only option I see is share with link, so I was not able to share the jpg image of it. So I’m not sure if you were able to see the image or not. In this case, let me know if you would like me to add my links back so that you could check them and also let me know if you were able to see the image or not. Thanks.

No worries. If you can add the links back in, that would be great. That will cause the error to show up again on the site, which I can use to debug the root issue.

Done, I have added my Instagram and Pinterest links, you can now check for the issue. Also, what I noticed is that, when I’m logged into my Hosting/WordPress the social media icons do appear on the upper right corner, but when I log out and go to my site, they do not appear at all. I’ve tried changing browsers, clearing caches, and as I said above, I also got it checked with my developer, not sure what’s causing this issue, hence my last resort was to come to you, I really hope you can help me out with this. Let me know if you need anything else apart from this. Thanks again.

This is really embarrassing, I swear they were not loading at all. No sure if you made any changes or anything but I’m able to see the icons now for some reason.

    Thank you!

I actually see them too now. In your General Settings menu, can you make sure that both the WordPress URL and Site URL use the “https” version of your site’s URL? I have a hunch that the “s” is missing, and this would cause a security issue in some browsers that would block the icon font from loading.

All thanks to you, since I have your attention, if possible, could you please add Instagram Threads as a social media option as well? I would really appreciate that. Thanks.

Yea I can do that. I’ll try to get an update out this week with the Threads icon.

Hi Ben, thanks for adding the Instagram Threads social plug to the list, I have added the link from the customizer but unfortunately, it’s not showing up on my site with other icons, this time I have kept the link in the customizer so that you can check it. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Sure thing! This time, please try clearing your cache, and that should get it showing. Most likely, the older font file is being loaded from before Threads was included.
