I have an image set for ‘Social Image Fallback URL.’ I am a little confused about its’ purpose. I thought this would show if there was not a page image when sharing to Facebook – it doesn’t. What I see, instead, is the first image from the footer.

    Am I missing something simple?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Hey Mike, it looks like you indeed missed something simple ?. From Facebook Sharing Debugger:

Provided og:image URL, https://firstintheq.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/cropped-queue.png was not valid because it did not meet the minimum size constraint of 200px by 200px.

Try using 200x200px image or bigger. Then please visit FB Sharing Debugger, click scrape again and you should get a new picture. Let me know if you have any more trouble.

    Hi Pierre,

Thought I was ?? Thanks for the advice. I’ll give it a go.

    Hi Pierre,

    Thought I was ?? Tried your advice – image now 500 x 500. Still doesn’t show.

Hey, currently it looks good. However, Facebook Debugger is having a bad day, apparently. It is not scraping data correctly, not only for your website. All we can do is wait. It looks like other social media are picking the image just fine.

Try again in a couple of hours, maybe tomorrow. If the problems persist after a couple of days, write to us here again and we can take another look. Sounds good?

    OK Pierre,

    Many thanks.

Hey Mike, I checked your site again and it seems like you propped up a lot of the pages. For example, your article “Sleepy, sleep, sleep” was using an image link from Medium, while now it is using an image you uploaded to WordPress. I checked a couple of more articles and it seems in most cases you provide valid metadata (and images).

However, on your homepage, you are still using an image bit too small, namely, cropped-mentalResilienceLogo-1.png that is 625*183px. Make sure each side is at least 200px.

It looks like this small image is being set from the page itself (Not from Fallback URL). If you want to fix this, open the page that is set as homepage, scroll down to TSF metabox and pick a bigger image.

If you find TSF useful, please consider rating our plugin. Takes 2 minutes, makes us happy and helps us grow and maintain the quality.

If you have any other difficulties down the line, we are always here to help.
In any case, have a good weekend!
    Pierre
