Social Icons Widgets not showing up

I have social icons in the menu above my header, but when I’m trying to get them in the footer, or anywhere that requires I use a widget, they aren’t showing up at all. No “box” or “square” as some have mentioned. Just…nothing. I tried a couple different locations but all of them show nothing. In the cusomtizer I can see the pencil in the location the widget should be, and in the left column where the settings for the widget are I see the squares of color indicating my chosen icons. But nothing is showing up at all on my actual page, either in the editor or when I publish. I’m not sure what’s going on. I tried deleting the social icon plugin I had but wasn’t using, anyway. I turned of Jetpack optimization on graphics just in case. I’m not sure what else to do. I know I can probably find a way to code some in, but since there should be an easy widge to do it for me, I’d like to just use it.
