Social icon skype

Hi Andrew,

Can you give me an example of what the url/link would be, please. Since I’m automatically assigning the icons based on the urls, it depends whether I can do the same with that Skype url/link (i.e. if you add a url starting with faceboook.com it knows it needs a fb icon)

I am not to sure about that. I see reference to Skype URI’s. But I also see plugins:

The plugin in that post doesn’t exist anymore.

Doing some searches, I finally found that you’re supposed to be able to add a link like skype:profile_name?userinfo to view someone’s profile (see https://stackoverflow.com/questions/16177332/create-application-link-to-skype-profile), but I just tried it and it doesn’t work. At least, not with the latest Mac Skype app anyway. Using skype:profile_name?chat does seem to prompt Skype to connect to a profile though.

Most of the articles I found while searching are at least 5 years old. I’m guessing some of these skype links might have used to work, but they don’t seem that reliable anymore. Also, my control is currently automatically adding ‘https://’ to every link as it assumes it’s a website link, and I want to make sure they’re valid. Doing this to a skype link though will stop it from working so I’d have to re-write the js to specifically exclude those Skype links. For that reason, I don’t think I’ll add a skype social icon just at the moment.
