Socal Icons Colour change

those icons seem to be background images, stored in your theme’s images folder;
for example the twitter icon: https://www.theartisanstore.com.au/wp-content/themes/artisan-store/images/icon_twitter.jpg

you might need to contact the developer of your custom theme for help with changing them.

Would you have any idea where they might have placed the code for the colour to save me going back to the developer, they are very quick to charge a fortune for small changes. I have been thru nearly every theme file and can’t seem to find anything obvious, or can I re-write the code in the style.css file to overwrite the colour change there?

those are images – there is no code for the colour in the CSS.

click on the linked example twitter icon from your theme https://www.theartisanstore.com.au/wp-content/themes/artisan-store/images/icon_twitter.jpg to see that particular image – it has two halves to allow for the hover effect.

the other icon images are likely in the same /images/ folder of your theme.

you will need to use a photo editing software to change the colors of those icon images…

I found the images they are all black & white, no colour. The hover image is grey and white.

As Michael explained, those icons are images, so you will not find CSS attributes to change the colour.

I created some quick jpg versions using your “gold” menu hover colour as the hover state. If you want to give them a try, back up your current icon files from your images folder: https://www.theartisanstore.com.au/wp-content/themes/artisan-store/images/

Then upload these new icons to that folder.

Thanks, I will give them a whirl, still doesn’t make sense though, the images in https://www.theartisanstore.com.au/wp-content/themes/artisan-store/images/ are black and white so the colour green on the website needs to be coming from somewhere.

so sorry, just looked again, and I have two sets of icons for social one set is black and white the other is the green, thank you so much for your help.

Are the “black and white” icons also .jpg format, or are they png? Perhaps you have vector versions included, in which case editing would be MUCH easier.

Here is a png version of the “envelope” image to replace the bottom “email us” image.

Looks like you re-compressed the jpg images I uploaded. Did you view them in an editing software, then “save” them? If so, you will see resolution quality loss (most evident in the twitter hover image) as the software will re-compress the image. You should upload the image files as they are to ensure the best quality.

Or perhaps you have a plugin which is compressing your images.

Either way, jpg format is not the ideal format for icons graphics like this. png or gif would be a much cleaner choice with a smaller file size.
