• On activating autoptimize immediatelt get error message when viewing any page. Message reads:
    “SoapFault thrown. Could not connect to host”

    Deactivating autoptimize returns website to normal (sirbr8.com)

    Any suggestions? I would like to improve the page loading speed, currently at 10-15 seconds!!

    Thanks

    First of all; first time ever I’ve seen that error message! I guess you use a plugin that does webservice requests which somehow times out when autoptimize is active, but have now idea how that could be really. do you know which plugin that might be?

    Regarding autoptimize: can try each optimization type (JS, CSS & HTML) separately? are there instances where you don’t get that error?

    Thanks for the prompt reply Frank. I’ll have to set time aside to deactivate all active plugins and bring them back one at a time to see effect on autoptimize.

    I’m a (retired) self-taught amateur with no IT background so I hope the cure is technically simple! I really need to speed up the response time of my site – I’ll also query the ISP to see if there’s a problem at their end.

    Morning Orindan;
    Deactivating & activating plugins could indeed help narrow down the problem, but do also play with the AO-settings; does you site work with only JS optimization (so no CSS or HTML), or only CSS (no HTML/ CSS optimization)?

    Performance-wise I would advise you to first and foremost (even before autoptimize) install a page caching plugin (wp super cache or hypercache for example, but there are plenty others). As far as you hoster is concerned; ask if they have PHP opcode caching active (e.g. APC or OpCache if PHP < 5.5, or making sure OpCache is active if PHP = 5.5).

    And great to see your self-taught, as that means you’re here to have fun, which is why i’m here as well ??

    Kind regards,
    frank
