• We held off moving from the PayPay Checkout plugin because we had seen all the negative reviews for this PayPal Payments plugin, but finally decided to make the move when the old gateway stopped being supported.

However we’ve had nothing but problems with this plugin on our WooCommerce Subscriptions site. Failed payments, payments left in uncaptured states, customer confusion as to why their payment isn’t captured or fails.

The support team have been responsive and helpful but, at this time, these issues are still unresolved and many customers are unable to pay to renew basic manual subscriptions on expiration.

It feels like this plugin is just not ready to support anything other than the most basic product payments. Not sure whether to roll back to using the old Checkout Gateway or PayPal Standard now.

    Hi Marcus,

We regret the trouble with subscriptions and appreciate the feedback.
For the moment, the primary subscription logic is designed around ensuring that automatic renewals with regular WooCommerce Subscriptions-type products are working reliably.
This logic is relatively strict and can potentially cause subscription orders to fail if not all defined requirements are met, even if these may not apply to all scenarios.
The upcoming plugin updates include improvements to further expand the subscription compatibility with more third-party plugins and use cases like manual renewals only.
There are more upcoming measures that aim to provide a more consistent experience with the subscriptions integration and we hope for your input.
    Thanks!

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

Many thanks, Niklas – and we very much appreciate your responsiveness to these issues… your support has been speedy and thorough, and we’d be happy to give the plugin another try as soon as these issues with integration with WooCommerce Subscription payments can be resolved. We’re using the plugin in non-Subscription environments without issue.
