So Many Problems
-
Hi
I’m having so many problems with WordPress I don’t know where to start.
Hosting Service – easyspace.com
Website – https://www.paultansley.com/StylishWeddingPhotographyI’ve installed a fresh copy of WordPress into that sub-directory. I’ve changed the name of the WordPress folder to “blog”. I’ve managed to install WordPress and it asked me for a user name and password etc. That kind of worked – but trying to login again is giving me countless problems.
I deleted the Plugins folder from the server. Just in case it was causing issues.
I’ve managed to change the password by going into phpMyAdmin and manually changing it. I manage to get logged in via this method. However, the first page that comes up in WordPress tells me that I am using the default login password and do I want to change it. I go to the profile page – change it. When I hit save, the page tries to load – but fails. I try logging in with the new password, it fails. I try the old one – that still works. I exit.
Now, every time I try and login by going to
https://www.paultansley.com/StylishWeddingPhotography/blog/wp-login.php
it fails. I get a blank page (after a long, long time loading)
I’m on a mac, I’ve tried in Apple Safari and Firefox. Neither seems that happy. Firefox seems to have a better chance of getting the login page, but still fails many times.
Sometimes, the page loads and I can enter my username and password. But then it will again tell me that the password is wrong. I’ve been round and round in this loop for the last 2 days and its driving me MAD! 5 step install? sure! That should be 5 steps repeated a thousand times.
My thoughts are this. Does Safari have a problem working with WordPress? Does Firefox on the mac? If I switch to using my PC, is there a browser that is more likely to work nicely with WordPress. I read somewhere about Java issues.
Perhaps its just my host that is causing issues. Until monday I can’t check this. My site is loading fine though and I can easily FTP and use phpMyAdmin, so the server is working fine.
Its now really driving me crazy. When I do log in (on that rare occasion) I can’t actually do anything, since I don’t want to risk working on it, knowing full well that the next time I try and log in it won’t work.
Please someone try and suggest what may be going wrong.
Paul
