    Hiya,

Why can’t you stand it, would you be able to provide us with some more details?

    Hi Marius L. J.

    Glad to answer your question.
I can’t stand working with Gutenberg because:

    1. I can’t add more than one image at a time like I could previously. I have to press “+” then click “image” then chose one image, then press “+” then click “image” then chose one image to add another image and so on. Very time consuming.
    2. I can’t just put everything together in one block or area – it so annoying to have to click “+” then choose the type of block then add the item and do this for each and every item! Before I would just type or add media, etc.
    3. I cannot for the life of me find the code button to access the html for editing the post, ugh.
    4. When I add a link to a URL I used to get a dropdown of recent posts, pages, products, etc – this is no longer, with Gutenberg I have only an empty box to type my URL into. Which means I have to copy the URL first. Again – time consuming.

Honestly the only thing Gutenberg is good for is the idea that it looks somewhat attractive which can be appealing to newbies. I absolutely do not like using it.

    1. You can add a Gallery block, and aftwerwards if you really need it, you can transform your gallery into images. Oh and you can use the / shortcut (its like clicking +), and then type the name of the block you want, find the one you need from the list of matches and press Enter – a new block created fast.

    2. Try Classic block – it’s like having TinyMCE inside a block. If you want better features, install and activate TinyMCE Advanced.

    3. You can edit HTML a) per block: in the block toolbar press the 3 dot menu “Options” and then “Edit HTML”, edit, when finished open the same Options menu and clic “Edit visually”, or b) per post: clic on the “More tools & options” button on top right (the one with the three dots) and clic on “Code editor”; edit and when finished return to the same menu and clic “Visual editor”. You can also use the shortcut Shift + Ctrl + Alt + M for alternating views.

    4. That box has incremental search enabled; type some words and you’ll get posts and pages that match your search terms. Just type and wait a little :D.

    Hope it helps.

Thanks Orlando – just seems a lot more complex than it needs to be. Just so much to do so little. I will force myself to try your recommendations.

@likeslocal did you delete your reply???

Sorry. I didn’t see a way to delete the post altogether. I’ve vented enough about how awful Gutenberg is; i realized i didn’t have anything constructive to say, and I didn’t want to waste anyone’s time – but i did anyway… ??

    My apologies.

Well I got it in an email and I really liked what you said – The constructive part was that they are implementing something forcing us to use it. I think that is a valid point and I would really like it if you put your entire comment back on ??
