This plugin really meets most of our needs but there are basic functionality things that make me scratch my head. I had to customize the solution to take into account custom post statuses. I had to customize the solution to change the ‘pay per post’ messages effectively. I had to customize the solution to display those custom post statuses in user dashboards. In all of these scenarios, I reached out to support but ended up having to make the changes myself in the end.
They also have a feature request forum, which is great. Unfortunately, it is not maintained. I submitted a request over a month ago which has still not been moderated thus it is hidden from public view. Although the development team is active on github, it appears their feature request process is broken.
Note that, we are really only using the Frontend posting feature of this plugin. Because of this, we also encountered problem with ‘pending’, ‘approved’ and ‘denied’ users. We never used this piece of the plugin, but it still forced additional fields onto our users.
The fact that I am only using one small piece of this plugin which I was then tasked with customizing myself since R&D/PM does not pay attention to feature requests and technical support is not ‘code saavy’, and thus could not provide what I was asking for and instead suggested PAYING more money for additional development…seems to indicate this is was not a smart purchase by me. I only needed things in the free plugin, I paid for it for “added support” but the support team has rarely given me “usable, actionable information”.
All of this being said, I was able to get it functional for our use case but it is a Frankenstein at this point due to so many customizations being necessary but I must subtract some stars for this…
