    Hello,
I′ve installed the sitekit plugin and connected Analytics and Search Console successfully in the Sitekit Backend.
    Screenshot: https://itsosticky.com/1eajwrw

    I have two problems:
    1. it says “Snippet is inserted” in the Sitekit/Analytics Settings BUT the GoogleAnalytics Code does not show in the sourcecode of my pages AND also gachecker.com reports that no GA-code is found on any page.
    Screenshot: https://itsosticky.com/15kqrn

    2. Data Error in Search Console / Permission Issue accessing data:
    Screenshot: https://itsosticky.com/134sl7g
I am logged in with the correct google account inside sitekit. this same account is the OWNER of the domain-property inside search console, yet I get an error in the sitekit-search console tag: “Data error in Search Console
User does not have sufficient permission for site ‘https://dasblackboard.net/’. See also: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/2451999.”

Any help appreciated – Thank You!

Thanks for getting in touch, hopefully we can assist with your queries.

    1. it says “Snippet is inserted” in the Sitekit/Analytics Setting…

As a logged in user with the default Site Kit settings the snippet won’t appear when checking your sites source code. If you enabled Analytics for all users then the snippet is visible. Alternatively I would suggest checking the source code from a browser incognito window so you’re not logged in. I can’t be sure of how other websites or Analytics checks work but if you don’t see the snippet let me know. I’ve also made a screenshot of the snippet placed on your site, which you can view here.

    2. Data Error in Search Console / Permission Issue accessing data:

As you’ve used the same Google account to setup Setup Site Kit can you provide the following information?

    1. When you open the Search Console tab and click on the Search Console link do you encounter a notice regarding permissions?
    2. Did you setup any other services within Site Kit using a different account?
    3. Can you please share your Site Health information here or privately.

We also have version 1.14.0 available if you’d like to update to the latest version of Site Kit.

Hello James and thanks for your Feedback.

    1. indeed I could find the code snippet after using my browser in incognito mode. thanks

Two new questions regarding this topic crept up:
1.1. why does gachecker.com not find the code? (they are obviously a third party entity not using my logged in account and still the code snipped is not visible to them. On another site of ours where I implemented the snippet manually gachecker.com finds it just fine.)

1.2. early morning I had some first analytics infos inside my site kit dashboard like “4 visitors” and All Traffic: 100% 1 Direct.
Shortly after it changed to “Analytics Gathering Data” and stayed this way since. (sitekit was only setup yesterday)

    2.
2.1 When I click on the Search Console Tab inside Sitekit, there is no “Search Console” Link. Below the error-report is only a “Need Help?” Link leading to this site:
    https://sitekit.withgoogle.com/documentation/

2.2 No, I did not or not to my knowledge. My Sitekit Account is the same account as the Domain Property Owner inside Search Console.

2.3 I did fill out the private form.

    Thanks

Many thanks for your reply and for sharing your details.

1.1. With regards gachecker.com I’m unsure, I checked a couple of snippet placements the same as your own and encountered the same experience. You could check with the site provider.

1.2. It may be a case of waiting additional traffic. I can’t say for sure why it reverted from displaying data to the notice you encountered but it might be worth checking in a few days to ensure it’s working as expected, with more traffic to analyse.

In relation to the Search Console notice I it looks like your site may be connected to a URL prefix type property as opposed to a verified domain type property. Are you able to access that property when accessing Search Console directly using the same Google profile? You’ll see the logged in Google profile on the top right of the same screen. If not you have the option to verify ownership from the same screen.

We’re also looking to improve the notice within your Search Console dashboard, you can find out more below.
    https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/1824

Let me know how you get on with the above, or if you have any queries.

    Hello James,

Analytics Data started to show again right now and I try to confirm with the developer of gachecker.com if that is a problem on his end.

This is the current dashboard view:
    https://itsosticky.com/1jknwlb

Regarding search console I assure you the top right corner in both sitekit and search console is the same google-user account with access/ownership to the domain property.

Should I re-install sitekit or is there any other suggestion?
    Thanks

Great, feel free to share any updates on the service.

Have you tried to manually verify ownership from the same link? It might be interesting to know if that allows you to view the dashboard as expected.

Alternatively you can try and reset Site Kit as it looks like you are the sole administrator, therefore not impacting other users.

    Hi James,

so this is what my search console looks since I first added the new website as domain property two days ago. I did this with the same user-account I use in sitekit.
(the other domain-prefixes are from a second domain which was added years ago)
    https://itsosticky.com/4kxbsy

I then checked your last link and the initial response is that I don′t have access (which is surprising, given the screenshot above)
    https://itsosticky.com/gdsysu

I then click the button to “confirm ownership” and it immediately turns green: “ownership confirmed automatically”
    https://itsosticky.com/305e8l

So I am not sure why I had to take this step but in the end it also did not fix the problem inside sitekit which still reports the same permission errors…

    Thanks

Many thanks for sharing the insights, very useful screenshots. It might be worth us testing this from our side, replicating the same experience you’ve been encountering. I’ll check with the team your setup on the Site Kit service. I’ll also create a GitHub issue and report back to you here.

In the meantime so that you get successfully connected now that the ownership seems verified (within Search Console) can you confirm the issue remains within Site Kit when checking from a Chrome browser incognito window?

    (@jamesosborne)

Just to keep track of this issue and ensure you get the Search Console module working for you I’ve created the below GitHub issue:
    https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/1915

Feel free to add any additional information to that issue. If the above suggestion (Checking incognito) fails to load the Search Console dashboard for you please inform me of the below:

    1. Did you fully verify the domain type property within Search Console before setting up Site Kit?
    2. When the Search Console dashboard stopped working for you did you make any changes to your site or perform any changes to that property in Search Console?
    Thread Starter BillyHoiler

    (@billyhoiler)

    Hello James,

I′ve just opened the sitekit dashboard within chrome incognito mode and the problem is still there – (also on another computer at home).

    Here′s what I see:
    https://itsosticky.com/6z9at

    Regarding your questions:
    1. I did fully verify the domain property within Search Console before installing sitekit. That′s why I am also confused that I had to “do it again” when clicking your link. (nothing changed in the search console backend, I was the owner before and after the second confirmation)

    2. Not sure if there is a misunderstanding: search console dashboard itself had no problems so far, only inside sitekit it does not work and prints errors. I do not recall making any changes.

    Best regards!

Since we would like to launch the site

Next thing I would do is re-install Sitekit and try again, but if that helps I`d offer to do a screenshare session with you before (also because I would like to learn if am doing anything wrong).
…but it should be today or tomorrow if possible because we should be up and running. thanks

Many thank for the update. I’ll try and recreate this same experience by verifying a domain type property first. Before doing so can you inform me when you verified the domain type property do you recall adding text records to your domain via your hosting control panel?

From the Site Health information provided it doesn’t look like the domain type property was used during Site Kit setup.

    Thread Starter BillyHoiler

    (@billyhoiler)

    Hello James,
yes, I′ve added a TXT record “google-site-verification….” with our hoster.

For some reason I have the domain property AND and a “regular URL property”(not sure how it is called) https://www.______.net below.

I do not recall adding the URL property myself and believe it was added during the process of adding the domain property.

    Could this be the problem?
    Thanks

Update – (since I could not wait any longer):

    1. I deleted the URL property within search console. (kept the domain property)
    2. I reset Sitekit from within Sitekit/Wordpress (no re-install)
    3. Did the setup wizard for search console
    4. Added Analytics

All seems to work as expected now.
    Best Regards

Appreciate the update, glad to hear you were able to get in working. I suspect the domain type property may have been created although for some reason not fully verified by the time Site Kit was setup, which is why the plugin may have setup a URL type property.
