Hi. I’ve been messing around with your plugin. Very smooth.

Quick question about creating a snapshot before I update a plugin. If I update a plugin that not only changes the the plugin files, but updates the database tables for various reasons. Then I roll back to a snapshot, would this be problematic? The files would be in the updated version, but the rollback wouldn’t have the updated database changes.

Maybe I am over thinking this. However, wanted to be aware if any problems could arise in this situation. Thanks.

    Hi,

Only automatic snapshots create copies of plugin files as they were before the update. Regular snapshots don’t contain files, only a database snapshot. So if you create a snapshot manually, then you update a plugin, then restore that snapshot only changes made by that plugin in the database will be restored (as well as any other changes made to the database since the snapshot was created).

I hope that clarifies it but if not let us know ??

@talextech Thanks. Just one point of clarification.

The auto snapshot is part of your PRO plugin. If I got the PRO version, could I then do a manual snapshot (or something like it), that would create a copy of the plugin? Normally, I update my plugins manually, so I would want to make a quick backup before pressing update.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Manual snapshots don’t create file copies in PRO either but we have an option to automatically create a snapshot (hence the auto snapshot name ?? ) whenever you update plugins or themes or perform other actions. So you won’t have to worry about plugin updates breaking things.
