smush has duplicated each image on download

    Hi there,

    We have smushed our images on a staging site. On download from the server it has duplicated each iage file 16 times into 16 different dimensions

    So it’s made 16 dupliucates of each images and created 1.8 GB of.

    Do you have any clue of what’s going on here?

  • Hi @eddy1000,

    WordPress will auto-create attachment sizes for each image. So if you upload 1 image, you end up with 10 or 15 or even 20 attachment sizes (depending on the theme). Smush will only optimize those images (the original is preserved on the free version, so you can always regenerate to the default state).
