Howdy. A couple of days ago the awesome Photonic plugin stopped working.

    We now get this error.

There was an error connecting to smug. Please try again later.
1 Message: cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 20001 milliseconds with 0 bytes
    received

All indications are a server error and I have messaged Smugmug support to see if there is a fix from their end but I thought I’d post here in case ??

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

You can increase the cURL timeout from Photonic → Settings → Generic Options → Advanced → Increase cURL timeout.

Cheers Sayontan. How much would you suggest increasing it?

The default is generally 30, so it is a bit surprising that your host has it at 20. In case 30 doesn’t work I would suggest bumping it up to 60. Any higher and things will appear really slow on your site, so I would say if it doesn’t work with 60, do some sanity checks like figuring out how many albums you are trying to pull. E.g. I had one user with 1000+ albums and trying to show that much data leads to very poor user experience.

Great I got it working again Thanks!

Another question since you’re here if I may?
Since the recent update the user tree is now displaying “private” albums AND it used to show the folders (we have pics grouped into months- folders). I’ve just been fiddling with the settings and can’t seem to get it working as it used to…?

    Thank you again in anticipation.

Since the recent update the user tree is now displaying “private” albums

Private, or password-protected? There is a setting to remove thumbnails for password-protected albums: Photonic → Settings → SmugMug → Album Thumbnails (with other Albums) → Hide thumbnails for Password-protected albums. If you also have private albums, the only case where they would show up is if you have performed authentication.

I haven’t changed anything in the “folder name” functionality – as you can see in the demo, I get to see the names of the folders. If you are using a shortcode, try using the attribute headers='title' in the shortcode to see if it makes a difference.

OK, so I’ve removed authentication to eliminate access to Private Folders. Cool.

For about 2 years we have been using folders to separate pics into months and within these we have password-protected galleries. Up until recently, these folders would appear under the tree view and people would have to navigate into these folders to access the various galleries. But now all the galleries are displayed and no folder “title” is displayed.
Do I have to reorganize SmugMug or is there some way to display these individual folders?

for reference, I am using the following shortcode…

    [gallery type='smugmug' view='tree' nick_name='inthemirror' columns='auto' title_position='regular' headers='title' popup='hide' layout='square']

It took me quite some head-scratching to figure out why I couldn’t replicate this. Apparently this is working on posts, but not on pages.

    I will patch this shortly.

Version 2.45 (released a few minutes back) should fix this.

I am marking this “resolved” – please feel free to reopen this, if you think the issue is still present.
