I have PublishPress that uses WP Mail SMTP. I can send a test message to my personal email address yet when I publish a post, a failed notification for this email is created. There are a few email that are failing, they are outlook.com, yahoo.com, aol.com and live.ca all other emails work.

I have forced WP Mail SMTP to use [email protected] which is the same as the website’s email.

    Hi @sshebear,

could you please let me know which mailer you are using in our plugin settings?

Is [email protected] the email address that is registered as the sender for that mailer? The test email send with this email address as the “From Email” works OK? And you have the “Force From Email” checkbox enabled? If you are using “Other SMTP”, which SMTP host are you using?

Emails can fail for a bunch of different reasons… The “Data not accepted” message is a general error, which means that the email was not accepted by the SMTP server because the From Email address may not be correct (enabling the “Force From Email” checkbox usually fixes that), maybe the reply-to address used in the email is not allowed by the SMTP server, maybe the content of the email is not allowed, …

It’s hard to know what exactly is causing this error, but having an email logging functionality would maybe help debug this issue. You can try to install one of the email logging plugins for that and once the email fails, check which email attribute could cause issues. You can share the failed email logs with us here and we can take a look.

    Take care!

    Hi,

We are using PublishPress, we still get the error message yet only the Yahoo.com and live.ca emails fail. I have messaged those recipients to get them to check if the emails are stuck in Spam/Junk.

Yes help@humanipro is the sender address. I have set up a test Yahoo account to see if that goes through. It does go through using the Test. I shall publish a post to test it too.

PublishPress has a Notification Log, this is how I know those emails are failing.

Please find a screen capture of the log here https://www.humanipro.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/notification-log-12-05-2021.png

All emails are being sent correctly now. Also the error message have gone. Thank you

My colleague noticed an incorrect _dmarc entry in the DNS settings and it took a while for it to activate.
