Whenever I try to send mail through a third party SMTP I keep getting the same error – this is for both Amazon SES and Mandrill, and for all ports and security settings:

Error Sending Message SMTP works with MailPoet to [email protected] | SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host. |
Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: unable to connect to smtp.mandrillapp.com:587 (Connection refused) in /home/content/13/8475413/html/MYDOMAIN.biz/wp-content/plugins/wysija-newsletters/inc/phpmailer/class.smtp.php on line 123
