• Hi,

    still got this Problem with the Plugin. It is a very big Site, so I can′t just switch to another Plugin. We are running on a very old php Version (5.5). Before we can got to 7.xx we need to go step by step higher. So changed the php Version to 5.6 – this Plugin stops working. Back to 5.5 – everything fine. As it was a year ago. Nothing changed.

    Debug Info:

    CLIENT -> SERVER: STARTTLS
    SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.CLIENT -> SERVER: QUIT
    SMTP connect() failed. https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/wiki/Troubleshooting

    I hope there is a solution.

    Thanks for your help in advance

  • Hi, just one question. Can you verify that when you upgrade your PHP version to 5.6 it is this plugins fault and not another plugin causing an issue? Did you disable all plugins except this one while running PHP version 5.6? Have yo also spoken to your host about this issue?

    Hi,

    thanks for your answer. I would love to deactivate all other Plugins to see if this is the problem. But I can′t. If I do that, the Site will break. We have about 40.000 UC daily. Memberships and Display Ads running. So there is no option to deactivate. The Host does not know why it is not working. I asked…

    Could it be, that there is a problem with the Certificate? Is there any difference in the Process from 5.5 to 5.6?

    Thanks again for your reply.

    Hi, you could test the certificate if you want. It might turn out to be a certificate issue.

    The test I recommended above in regards to disabling the plugins, might also help with this issue. The reason why I am saying this, is because of the following comment.

    So changed the php Version to 5.6 – this Plugin stops working. Back to 5.5 – everything fine.

    PHP version 5.6 is the minimum your server should be running. PHP 5.5 is no longer supported. Running this version can be a security risk for your server and site. Please read the following PHP supported versions.

    Kind regards.
