I’m setting up Branda for the purpose of the SMTP because my Forminator form submissions aren’t getting through to the email address I have for them.

The Branda Test Email has failed to send and I’m asked to check the SMTP credentials.

In the Emails section under SMTP Authentication the Username and Password were already prefilled by Branda with my own WP user, that I use to login to WP Dashboard etc. Is this correct?

The email I’m using is the Zoho service.

    Thanks,

    Hi @ratamatcat

    I hope you’re well today!

Branda doesn’t pre-fill that. It could only have the configuration ready there “out of the box” if it was already installed on the site previously and deleted without clearing its data.

Otherwise the plugin won’t pre-fill that and certainly it has no way to get your password.

If both username and password (and it was actually a correct password that you could see after clicking on “eye” icon next to it) was already there then it’s most likely browser auto-complete “gone crazy”.

Still, you can edit that to use proper SMTP authentication credentials.

    Kind regards,
    Adam

The password is my correct one. It must have been autocomplete. Crazy!

Am I supposed to create a new username and password here or does Zoho have one or something?

    thanks,

    Hi @ratamatcat

Am I supposed to create a new username and password here or does Zoho have one or something?

No, you don’t create any new passwords here. You need to fill-in correct information in “SMTP Server” section and that’s specific to your e-mail provider, Zoho in this case:

    https://www.zoho.com/mail/help/zoho-smtp.html

and in the “SMTP AUthentication” you would use your e-mail address (the one that you host with Zoho) as a username and that e-mail’s password (or an app-specific password if needed; please confirm that with the linked docs and your Zoho account configuration).

    Kind regards,
    Adam
