• We’re a small organization with a limited budget, so we recently decided to try the free version of Paid Memberships Pro to handle our membership additions and renewals. The software for the most part was very easy to configure and is very capable, and every function we’ve utilized has run smoothly. The documentation is pretty clear, but I ran into several situations where I couldn’t find the information I needed and either had to nix the feature I was considering or search the web elsewhere to see if anyone else had explained the implementation in PMP. I was pleasantly surprised that the one time I contacted the company for help, they did get back to me with a helpful answer. It took maybe a week, but I was pleased to get any response at all, as a free version user. The one big issue we’ve run into is the pricing model. There are just two or three functions we really wish we could add to our system, but to get the two or three add-ons we want, we’d have to pay hundreds of dollars…per year!…to get two or three dozen add-ons we don’t want. For one of the main competitors, if you want just one extra function, you can pay a pretty small one-time fee to get that one function through a single add-on. Big difference. That said, if your needs are pretty straightforward, and your users aren’t too demanding of extra bells and whistles, I recommend the free version of PMP.
