Smartest Way to Replace an Existing WordPress Installation

  • Hello,
    I have recently made a new WordPress site for a client.
    However, because of various reasons, I, and the client, have decided to erase the website and make it again with the same content, just a few differences.
    I was wondering what the smartest way to replace the WordPress installation would be.
    By “smartest” I mean smarter than using an FTP to replace the old site files with the new one, as that may interfere with the host, or something like that.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • All you really need to do is delete everything in the /wp-content/uploads and drop all of the database tables. Then you will be basically starting “clean” as there won’t be any content on the site any more.
